Day 1: Unique design of Chandigarh like a human body

Stop At: Le Corbusier Centre, Old Architects Office Building, Sector 19-B, Chandigarh 160019 India

Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh Master Plan
Chandigarh is India’s first planned city and was designed like the human body by Le Corbusier. It has clearly defined head in the form of Capitol Complex, Sector 1, heart in the form of the City Centre Sector-17), lungs by way of the leisure valley, the intellect by way of the cultural and educational institutions), the circulatory system in the form the network of roads, the 7Vs) and the viscera which is formed by the Industrial Area.

We visit The Capitol Complex which is a world heritage site. It is made up of three concrete buildings: the Palace of Assembly or Legislative Assembly, the Secretariat and the High Court. It is the best example of applying modernistic theories on a grand scale!

Another architectural gem of Le Corbusier, this building’s collection comprises Indian miniature paintings, metal sculptors, decorative art and contemporary Indian art. A few ancient manuscripts are another highlight if this museum. We will next visit the national gallery of portraits which is dedicated to Indian independence movement rising from the year 1857 and features paintings of leading Indian freedom fighters. The international dolls museum is a quaint section with dolls and puppets from 25 countries including Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Korea, Spain and Russia.

Day 2: Anantpur Saheb

Stop At: Gurudwara Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, Punjab 140119, India
We drive 80 KM to the holy town of Anantpur Saheb. It is nestled between the Shivalik hills in the east and Sutlej River at far west. Furthermore, this place is surrounded with vast green stretch that delivers calmness and spiritualism in its aroma. It is considered as the holiest place of Sikh religion where Shiri Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent 25 years of his life teaching and guiding his disciples.
Anandpur Saheb is also the birth place of the Khalsa, a special group of initiated Sikhs, as well as a community that considers Sikhism as its faith. The Khalsa tradition was initiated in 1699 by the last living Guru of Sikhism, Guru Gobind Singh. Its formation was a key event in the history of Sikhism.

Stop At: Mahishmardini Shaktipeeth Shri Naina Devi Temple, Naina Devi, Himachal Pradesh 174310, India
Naina Devi Temple is situated on a hilltop overlooking the Gobind Sagar lake. The temple is connected with National Highway No. 21 and accessible via a cable car ride from the base point. It is also widely regarded as one of the Shakti Peetha which are pilgrimage destinations in Shaktism, the goddess-focused Hindu tradition.

Stop At: Bhakra Nangal Dam, PRO Office, T/Ship, Nangal, Punjab 140124, India
Bhakra-Nangal Dam is the second tallest dam in Asia and located in the border of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. It is the highest straight gravity dam in India with the height of about 207.26 meters and it runs across 168.35 km. Its water is primarily used for irrigation. It has ten hydroelectric power generators on each of its sides with the total capacity of 1325 MW.

Day 3: Rock garden

Stop At: The Rock Garden of Chandigarh, Sector No.1, Chandigarh India
Nek Chand Rock Garden is a sculpture garden in Chandigarh. Located in a gorge in a forest near Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden is a unique Garden made up of recycled scrap material. It has been created in the lines of Sukrani, a divine kingdom as per the vision of its founder Nek Chand. Spread over 40 acres, the Garden has beautiful creations made up of industrial waste, home waste and throw-away items! The Rock Garden is not only beatuiful but also an inspiration for Sustainable Living.
