Discover the streets of Old Delhi

You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Old Delhi where you will meet your guide for the day.

Start the day with a traditional North Indian breakfast at one of the many shops that line the street. Most have been in the same trade for generations and have their share of loyal customers who still prefer to get their breakfast from these shops rather than prepare one at home. The open air kitchen allows you to observe how your favorite foods are prepared. You may also want to try your hand at a poori or parantha (flat breads).

After breakfast start your walking tour in one of the many lanes of Old Delhi. As you walk you will notice the facades of the houses that line these lanes. Steep and narrow staircases lead to home fronts with latticed windows that look onto the narrow streets below. The ground floors of these buildings are occupied by shops that sell almost everything from groceries to electrical appliances. There are entire streets that sell only spices or articles of clothing. Another street in the famous Kinari Bazaar specializes in wedding wear only. You can also take a rickshaw ride.

As you navigate through the narrow alleys, you will occasionally come across a temple or a gurdwara. The oldest Jain temple in Delhi is located in this area as is the famous 18th century Sis Ganj Gurdwara. In close proximity is the 800 year old Gauri-Shankar Temple.

Continue your walk and reach the largest spice market of Asia. Take in the sights and smells of this market. Shops laden with colorful spices can be seen as far as the eye goes.

Spend the rest of the morning walking through these crowded streets, observing the hustle and bustle of the city as the residents go about their daily chores.

After the walk, sit down at a local restaurant and enjoy a traditional platter meal with several dishes and the not to be missed dessert.

After lunch you will be driven back to your hotel.
