About this activity
0600 am: You will get ready for this spiritual same day tour. Drive towards Haridwar. Haridwar is an ancient city and important Hindu pilgrimage site, where the River Ganges exits the Himalayan foothills. The largest of several sacred Ghats (bathing steps), Har Ki Pauri hosts a nightly Ganga Aarti (river-worshiping ceremony) in which tiny flickering lamps are floated off the steps. You will see Ganga Aarti in Rishikesh at Triveni Ghat.
1100 am: Once you will be reached in Haridwar, we will take you to a local market which is situated between Har-ki-Pauri and Upper Road, Moti Bazaar is the main market in the holy city of Haridwar. This market is famous for woollen garments and religious items. Among the religious items available here are prayer bells, brass idols of Hindu deities, Rudraksha or sacred beads, precious stone (for prosperity), vermillion and Gangajal (water of holy Ganges) stored in a container. There are a number of shops selling ayurvedic medicines and rare herbs.
1230 pm: You will continue drive toward Rishikesh. Just a forty-five minutes’ drive from Haridwar.
Lord Vishnu was pleased by his act and appeared to the sage as a "Hrishikesh." The word is combination of two words Hrishik and esh. Hrishik means senses and esh means god or master. It means god of senses. The Sthala Purana states as follows: "Raibhya Rishi preferred the sacredness and beauty of the place where Lord Vishnu appeared, so he remained there in the form of intense plants, which look like his matted locks.
Upon arrival in Rishikesh you will visit the Ashrams, old temples and Yoga & Meditation places.
Rishikesh has spectacular view of jungle-clad hills also confluence of River Ganges and Chandrabhaga. 1700 hrs: Evening attend Aarti Ceremony at Triveni Ghat Rishikesh.
The Aarti ritual is of high religious significance. Fire is used as an offering to the river. Aarti is a Hindu religious ritual of worship, a part of Puja. This ceremony includes fire, songs sung in praise of the worshiped, flowers, incense, music, etc. The purpose of Aarti is to show humility and gratitude to God’s divine form. Lit lamps and flowers are floated down the river. Brass lamps are lit and circled clockwise by the saffron clad pandits (Hindu priests), accompanied by chanting or songs in praise of Mother Ganga. The belief is that during the aarti, the lamps acquire the power of the deity.
