About this activity
You will be transferred by vehicle from your hotel in Delhi City to the restaurant Karim's located in the Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi.

As one of the most famous historical restaurants, Karim's is known for the Mughlai cuisine evolved in Medieval India in the 16th century with the advent of the Mughal Empire. The cuisine is characterized by a mix of culinary styles and recipes of North India and is highly influenced by the cuisines of Central Asia. It is generally quite spicy, rich and heavy with a very unique aroma. It has over time remained one of the most popular and favourite cuisines among foodies across India. Some of its signature dishes include Biriyani, Mughlai Paratha, Murg Musallam, Kebabs, Malai Kofta and Rezala.

The Chagatay Turkic languages was the native languages of the Mughals, but the Persian language was adopted by the Mughal Empire as the official language, thus many of the Mughlai Indian dishes bear Persian names. Karim’s has an interesting historical back ground. In mid-19th century, Mohammed Aziz was a cook in the royal court of the last Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar who was dethroned by the British in 1857 and removed to Rangoon. In 1911, when the Delhi Durbar was held for the coronation of King George V, one of Aziz's sons Haji Karimuddin moved back to Delhi with an innovative idea of opening a Dhaba (roadside restaurant) to cater to the people coming from all over India to join the coronation. Haji Karimuddin started the Dhaba selling just two items, Alu gosht (mutton with potatoes) and Daal (lentil curry) served with Rumali Roti. Foodies need not worry. Today’s meal choices are many. After your sumptuous Mughlai meal you will be transferred back to your hotel.
