Day 1
7 AM- We drive out of Delhi towards JaipurNoon- Arrive at Amber Fort
Amber Fort is a magnificent Palace & Fort build with red sandstone and white marble Palace. It was built by Raja Man Singh I and completed by Mirja Raja Jai Singh. The formidable walls defended its residents from all corners. The view of Maota Lake from the Fort is fantastic. Intricate wall paintings & frescos made with precious gems and jewels gives us an idea of the opulent lives of the erstwhile Kings of Rajasthan.
The highlight of Amber Fort is the Palace of the Mirrors. Decorated with numerous pieces of mirror tiles, the Sheesh Mahal was designed in such a way that a single ray entering it can illuminate the entire hall.
3 PM- Hawa Mahal
We visit the masterpiece built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1798. Hawa Mahal is a five-storied honeycomb! This unique building has 953 small windows, called jharokas, decorated with intricate lattice work. The entire palace represents the crown of Lord Krishna. An interesting aspect of the architecture is that irrespective of the season the Palace is always flooded with a cool breeze.
4 PM- Nahargarh Fort
Nahargarh or the Abode of Tigers was built by Jai Singh II to tighten the defenses of his city. It was also the safety shelter for the wives of the British Army officers during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. Located on the rocky ridge of Aravalli Hills, one gets a striking view of Jaipur’s pink landscape.
Day 2
830 AM- Jal Mahal
The day begins for us at arguably the most beautiful site in Jaipur, the Water Palace. This Palace used to be the shooting lodge for the Maharajah. The low rise structure appears to float in the centre of Sagar Lake. It is a breadth taking sight of light sand coloured stone walls in stark contrast to the deep blue of the waters of the lake.
1030 AM- An 18th century Astronomical observatory
We end our Jaipur tour at the astronomical observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh in 1730. Jantar Mantar is a collection of 19 architectural astronomical instruments. Jai Singh built this observatory to correct the astronomical tables on planetary positions. The highlight of this palace is “Smarat Yantra”, the world’s biggest stone sundial.
