After pickup in Delhi by a private vehicle, your day trip begins with the approximate 4-hours’ drive to Agra, a city located on the banks of the Yamuna River, in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Agra achieved prominence as the capital of the Mughal Emperors from 1526 to 1628. The city still remains a popular tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal-era monuments, most notably the Taj Mahal & Agra Fort, both are famous UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Your first stop is India’s most iconic landmark, the Taj Mahal. Built in the mid-1600s, this white marble mausoleum was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in dedication to his wife. It is regarded as the jewel of Muslim art in India, a symbol of India’s rich history and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage. The construction of the monument is said to have taken 21 years (1632-1653) with over 20,000 artisans working around the clock. Learn about the Turkish, Indian and Persian architectural styles as you admire the detailed interior and exterior décor, the beautiful garden and the general magnificence of the white marble beauty.

Next, continue your tour to your second World Heritage site Agra Fort aka Lal Quila, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a historic Mughal architectural wonder. It served as the seat and stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. With your private guide, enter the 94-acre (34-hectare) brick fort, noting the mix of Islamic and Hindu influences in its design. Hear about the purposes of the various buildings such as the Hall of Private Audience (Diwan-i-Khas), Pearl Fort (Moti Masjid), Mirror Palace (Sheesh Mahal), Hall of Public Audience (Diwan-i-Am) and many other structures.
