About this activity
After pickup, walk begins with the entry to the Bastion of "Kashmere gate". This huge arched gateway still stands as a witness to the massive bloodshed occurred when British tried to take it back from the control of Freedom fighters. Marks of canon fires still can be seen.
Later we proceed towards Church of "Saint James" built by victorious British soldiers to thank the mercy of God after the bloody war. (rights of admission to ancient church are restricted & we might have to it from outside). Then we walk along the pavement along Asia's biggest motor spare markets, witness the hustle & bustle of the markets & how they function as one unit.
Then we stop at majestic Old Post office built in mid 19th century by erstwhile British rulers. You will be surprised to see that this building is still functioning as a post office.
Our last stop will be "Lothian Cemetery". Situated merely at a distance of 5 minutes’ walk from Kashmere Gate in Delhi is one such graveyard, called Lothian Cemetery, which is dreaded as one of the most haunted cemeteries in the world and yet is a target for encroachment & vandalism. Official records state that this cemetery was built by the British in year 1808 which makes it over 200 years old. (rights of admission to ancient cemetery are restricted & we might have to it from outside).
Here tour comes to end.Our guide will leave you at meeting point.
