St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 Spiritual Walk Exploring Early Burial Traditions

The walking tour begins at 1 :00 p.m in front of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church located at 410 N. Rampart St. Here we will begin with a discussion of French Mortuary Chapel burial laws and it's purpose during the many deadly epidemics. Our tour group will then be lead to St Louis Cemetery #1, which is located right behind the church. Here we will begin our 90 minute educational journey on history, culture, traditions and burial culture in New Orleans, as we visit some of our most famous residents. Hear the strange and unusual stories of how yellow fever impacted the city; and additional education on the birth of Jazz in New Orleans, while visiting the famous tombs of musicians.
