Plantation house to the restaurant and souvenir shop is about one block in distance. There are benches along the path, shaded by the Oaks.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Louisiana Tour Company, Marrero, LA 70072

Swamp and Wetlands Adventure: The New Orleans swamp tour boats are fully narrated and our captains are natives of the Barataria Swamps with a background of gator hunting, fishing and trapping. They will entertain you and amaze you with the ecology of the swampland. They have lived the life! Here, birds, snakes, turtles, fur animals, and gators are the kings of the swamp and easily spotted in spring, summer, and fall. Gators do hibernate during the cold winter months, but lay on the bayou banks on warmer days. So even in Winter, our native Captains can sometimes find a sunning Gator on our tour. The slow drift of our tour boats through moss draped trees and small waterways, will provide ample opportunity for viewing and photography. Your comfort is guaranteed on our tour boats. They have a roof, restroom, cushioned seats, and windows that can be raised or lowered during cold or rainy weather, along with plenty of standing and walking room. These tours are entertaining, educational and exciting.

The plantation visit was interesting but we could have used more time to explore all of the exibits. The 'swamp' tour was not so much of a swamp tour as a waterway tour. I think it would have been more enjoyable if there was more 'swamp' and less river.

I didn’t go on the tour but I booked it for my elderly parents and they said they had a blast and both tours were worth the money, especially with the ease of the pick up/drop off service from their hotel. Thanks for giving them such a nice day to remember.

Overall, we had a nice day, however there were hiccups along the way so we did not fully enjoy the day. The tour company never showed up to pick numerous guests up at various hotel across New Orleans. The company then blamed us saying that the buses came and never saw us, which was very false considering we were outside of our hotel 10-12 minutes early from the original time that they had confirmed the night before. They then switch our tour completely without telling anyone because they said Viator did not provide them with our cell phone numbers at the time of the booking. We were forced to not do the airboat tour and instead do a pontoon boat tour, which is not what we wanted, so that was very disappointing. Oak Alley Planation is picturesque! It is absolutely beautiful. I do wish we had a little bit more time there to explore the grounds. The tour of the house is about 35-40 minutes with a guide. Definitely worth while to see!

Did the combo tour on 6/27/18. The swamp tour was very fun and informative. The guide did a good job and kept everyone engaged. The afternoon plantation was interesting too, however there was not enough time to fully enjoy the beauty of the plantation and take in all the info. After lunch and the guided tour only had about a half hour to explore and take photos. I would have gave 5 stars but there should be more time allowed at the plantation.

This tour was absolutely outstanding. We loved every minute of it. We had plenty of time to tour Oak Alley and take in all it's splendor and glory. Make sure you buy a Mint Julep to drink, it's delicious. After the tour of the house we were allowed to roam the grounds freely and explore the slave quarters. The Swamp tour was so much fun. Our tour guide was a little quiet to start off with, but he soon warmed up to everyone and was quite numerous and friendly. The highlight was definitely being able to hold a baby alligator.

The plantation and swamp boat tours were wonderful. I would suggest attending both while in the area. It received a three star because of the Louisiana tour company. The late arrival at the plantation left the group rushed and only an hour at the plantation not enough for a tour and walking the grounds. The ride was very noisy and bumpy.

We enjoyed our day trip to Oak Alley plantation, and the swamp boat tour. It was a great way to spend a full day outside of the city. The plantation tour was interesting as it was immaculately maintained, and the host explained a dark time in Louisiana's history though I would have preferred a bit more time to explore the area on our own. The swamp tour was a lot of fun, and the highlight was being able to hold a baby alligator. If I were to do the trip over, I would have paid extra for the faster fan-boat tour rather than taking the slower, larger boat.

LeMonde was our driver for the day and he was very informative and kept everything on schedule. He pointed out many points of interest as we went by. The tour of Oak Alley was amazing. Tara, was our tour guide in the house. She was very articulate and spoke clearly as she gave us the story of the families and the history of this grand home. I just would have liked a bit more time to be able to explore this gorgeous plantation. Capt. Rob, a native to the area, was able to give us a great tour of the swamp with his personal experience and stories. We were treated to multiple 'gator' sightings with a real treat of getting a good look at a large gator posing on the bogs! Loved 'Elvis' ,Capt .Rob 's junior gator on board. We all learned a lot about the precious swamps and the animals , reptiles and birds that inhabit it them.
