Movie, TV, and St Louis Cemetery Walking Tour in New Orleans
This 2-hour New Orleans movie and cemetery tour will begin at the corner of St. Louis and Basin Streets, on the side of the visitor center. Your tour guide will deliver riveting information regarding the filming of famous movies and shows, such as NCIS New Orleans, The Originals, American Horror Story, JFK, Pelican Brief, Runaway Jury and Double Jeopardy on this tour.
After an introduction, you will head over to the St. Louis Cemetery #1, which has many historic tombs that have been made famous in movies, TV and music videos.
You will see the tombs of voodoo priestess Marie Laveau, serial murderer Madam LaLaurie, Easy Rider’s tomb and the unoccupied pyramid tomb where actor Nick Cage will one day reside. Your guide will provide an overview of New Orleans burial practices and folklore as you visit each tomb and/or film site.
Although the Archdiocese forbid filming in St. Louis Cemetery #1 in 1969/1970, after the Easy Rider embarrassment, the New Kids on the Block managed to film their hide-and-seek tag scenes for their music video, “You Got the Right Stuff”, inside the cemetery in 1988. You will see locations where The Right Stuff was filmed, as well as the spot from the opening scene of The Cincinnati Kid.
You will leave the cemetery and continue to a historic house where the interior scenes of American Horror Story were filmed. The same film location is where they filmed scenes for Double Jeopardy. Next door is The House of the Rising Sun!
We will then move on to the film location in American Horror Story where the witches performed their special witches’ walk, all dressed in black.
NCIS and The Originals film sites will be visited before we move on to the location where they film the entrance scenes for NCIS New Orleans headquarters.
Next, the group will head down Pirates Alley for more famous movie and television sites, including those from Interview with the Vampire, Pelican Brief, the Originals and NCIS New Orleans.
The iconic Washington Artillery Park in the French Quarter is the next destination, as it has been the backdrop for many scenes for TV shows and movies, such as NCIS, The Originals, Runaway Jury, Interview with The Vampire and others. These sites will be pointed out from the park.
The next stop on the tour is the site of the exhumation of Madame LaLaurie in American Horror Story.
As we approach our last stop, at the corner of the street we will see frequent settings used in the popular vampire TV series, The Originals – namely the restaurant where Camille, aka Cami, worked. This restaurant has also been featured in NCIS New Orleans, JFK, Runaway Jury and Double Jeopardy.
The tour ends at the rear of the old Louisiana Court of Appeals building.
