The Oak Alley and Laura combo is a good idea money and time wise. Oak Alley offers a breathtaking view because of its magnificent oak trees. That said, since it's very popular is hard to enjoy the visit. The inside tour didn't allow for time to even take a peak of the upstairs rooms which was a disappointment. On the other hand the Laura tour was inspiring and thought provoking. It was a smaller group and our guide Rose was knowledgeable and shared the rich history of the Plantation's inhabitants, including the enslaved. I highly recommend that you visit the Laura Plantation!
Would recommend this trip. Both tours guides were very knowledgable.
Everything about this tour was fantastic - from the transportation to the tour guides. Oak Alley Plantation was more about putting you in the time and telling you about it. The tour guides wear period dress and talk almost as if they know the characters. The Laura Plantation tour is more about Creole history and facts. Both tour guides were very passionate about their subject and you can tell they are concerned about the preservation of the history of this part of Louisiana.
What an eye opener! Great guide!
Good day trip. The bus picked me up on time and the journey to and from the plantations was good. The two plantations are both really beautiful and very interesting in their own different ways. Oak Alley is a great plantation to visit. You can wander around the grounds as you wish having a look at all the exhibitions which include replica slave cabins and a video about sugar cane and process. The Oak Alley where the plantation is name from is very impressive. There is a guided tour around the house which is very interesting and our guide Gail was very good, informative and answered all our questions easily. The building is really beautiful and has been restored very well. Laura is a very beautiful building and the architecture is fascinating if you like stuff like that, the plantation history and that of the Ramon family is very interesting. The buildings have been restored and kept very well and you can really understand how they lived back in the day. Our guide Krystyna was very friendly, very knowledgeable and made the stories very interesting making you want to know more. Great way to spend a day learning about the history of this part of the world.
The informative tours and easy transportation made our plantation tours a wonderful experience, highly recommended.
