Stop At: Alert Transportation LLC., 3 Westbank Expy B, New Orleans, LA 70114, USA

The Oak Alley Plantation is located 70 miles or about 1 hour 10 min from the French Quarter. The pick-up begins at 8:15am. We use our sister company “Alert Transportation” for the ground transportation service. The driver goes hotel to hotel for the pick-up service. We ask that you allow us up to 30 minutes for the pick-up service. Pick up will be curbside of your hotel.

Duration: 1 hour 10 minutes

Stop At: Oak Alley Plantation, 3645 Highway 18, Vacherie, LA 70090-7079

You will spend approximately 2 hours at the plantation. The house tour will be about 35 minutes in length. The Oak Alley plantation house tour is provided by Plantation tour guides. The remainder of your time will be spent with self-exploration of the grounds. If you use your time wisely, you can grab a sandwich at the gift shop for lunch and still have time to walk the grounds. You'll then be brought to the swamp tour dock for your next adventure.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Louisiana Tour Company, Marrero, LA 70072

On this tour, you will experience the best of both: an informative swamp tour and high speed thrill airboat ride. You will travel at high speeds in the airboat then slow down and stop for pictures. Your Captain will give you a tour of a life time explaining the culture, animals, and the swamps. You may even experience a close encounter with some of the local swamp life. You will return to you hotel around 5:00pm. Please note: the order of the combination tours may change based upon availability and weather.

The weather was kind to us as we first visited the Oak Alley Plantation. GREAT first hand view of plantation conditions with lots of history. Beautiful gardens, spectacular huge oak trees and an up close view of slave living conditions albeit a bit sanitized. Nice gift shop with lots of free praline and other samples. Swamp tour included LOTS of gators who swam right up to the boat for their share of marshmellows. The swamp was very lush with lots of birds and greenery. Great trip.

The airboat was very fun. The guide was knowledgeable and personable. We also saw lots of alligators! Tour at oak alley was full of info about the house but would have liked more stories about the people who lived there. Would have enjoyed a smaller group for the plantation tour as well. The grounds were beautiful. I liked having time to explore on our own. Caesar, our bus driver tried his best to give us info along the drive and stop at some other plantations for pictures.

Oak valley tour had beautiful grounds and nice to learn the history of the plantation. Airboat tour was fun. We had the owner as our tour guide so we learned so much of all the surrounding warers.

Both the Oak Alley Plantation and Swamp were great places to visit with interesting stories and engaging tour guides. Having said that we did experience a couple of hiccups. One of the issues we had was with the timing of the house tour of Oak Alley. The plantation not the tour company that was transporting us booked our tour group with another group later after we arrived. This effectively meant that the house tour took a lot longer than necessary as there were too many people in the group about 50. It also meant that we couldn't do the house tour first and then spend the remaining time in the gardens and looking at the slavery exhibit properly. It really restricted us and we would have liked further time at the plantation. We also experienced some transportation issues. Effectively we travelled on four different buses during the day as the company collects people and splits them depending on which tour you are doing. At one stage no one knew who was meant to be driving us back to New Orleans, which was very frustrating. The idea of collecting people from hotels in one area and then reshuffling them at a central location to get the right bus for their tour makes sense, but once you are on that bus you should not have to change again.

Excellent. It was cold so we only saw some small gators, but both adventures are worth the trip

From the minute we were picked up at our hotel to the time we were dropped off everything was terrific! Our driver out to the plantation, Brian, was an absolute comedian and a knowledgeable guide. The plantation itself was beautiful and the guide there was also well versed in the history of the house. Then came the swamp airboat ride, WOW. Captain Ernie was the best! He knows that swamp and that delta and knows his alligators. Plus the airboat ride is more thrilling than some things at Disney. This combo is a must do!
