The guide was interesting, knowledgeable and helpful. The plantation homes provide an insite to life back in that era.
Our plantation tour of the San Francisco and Houmas plantations was wonderful. I planned this as a part of my 40th birthday trip to New Orleans, and it did not disappoint! Well worth it! Our shuttle driver, Joseph, was great full of interesting information and history of the area. Houmas plantation was on point exquisite the grounds, main house, and extra buildings are gorgeous plus, our docent/historical interpreter, Susan, was awesome. Note: my husband and I had, honestly, the BEST sazerac and mint julep on THE PLANET at Houmas's Turtle Bar, THE BEST EVER my husband tends to be a cocktail snob!! I have to give this tour a 4.5 stars versus 5 stars on the account of the San Francisco plantation, it just needs some polishing an example: I was distracted by the docent's head and oral piercings which I'm sure falls upon San Francisco plantation itself and not Viator...
Good half-day tour. Van only seated 13, so group size ideal. No time for lunch or anywhere to stop and get water, so recommend bringing/packing food, if necessary.
This was a great tour...not the original one booked with Annabelle Tours but Annabelle Tours put us on this tour and it was great. The tour guide and driver was very knowledgeable, gracious, and accommodating.
The San Francisco plantation was unexpectedly small, thus a bit disappointing. The Houmas House plantation was quite exquisite, the grounds were immense and beautiful. Classic moss hanging from the trees, statues in the midst of beautiful gardens and so on. We had one of our best meals of the trip at their restaurant. There were no slave quarters, except two small ones that were not original to San Francisco, which was a let down as we really didn't get a feel for life from that aspect. Our guide, Guy, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable, about everything really, personable, kind and friendly. I don't know if it was the poor condition of the roads, the shocks on the vehicle or both but the ride was way too rough and bumpy for any level of comfort.
