About this activity
Why You Shouldn’t Miss This

Central Park is an integral part of American history and pop culture. For two centuries, the park has undergone multiple improvements and expansions. The essence of the park itself, however, has remained the same - a quiet getaway in the middle of bustling Manhattan, nothing short of a peaceful oasis in the heart of one of the world’s busiest cities.

It has remained the most visited and most filmed urban park in America. The locals do everything from walking their pets to attending sporting events in this park. Central Park shines in a different glow in every season. For instance, the west side of the park is covered in auburn foliage during fall. In winter, the Woolman Rink opens up to skaters across the world. A haze of delicate pink descends over the cherry and magnolia trees as spring approaches.

Central Park serves as the perfect escape for someone looking to relax and take a breather. Spending time with your family here can be an unforgettable and deeply rewarding experience.

Your Experience

Your tour will begin at the Grand Army Plaza, which is also a major tourist attraction. Statues of Civil War generals, the Bailey Fountain, and the John F. Kennedy monument are all present at the Plaza. If you have opted for the morning tour, you will also get a chance to rent a bike and roam Central Park.

You will then pass by Heckscher Ballfield and the Heckscher Theatre, followed by the ‘Pond’, a serene part of the southeastern part of the park. It is one of the seven water bodies inside Central Park. The historic Arsenal sits on 64th avenue. You will get to explore the place that served as a storehouse for arms and ammunition for the militia. This building existed even before the park was designed and constructed.

Wollman Rink, Central Park Zoo, Central Park Dairy, and the Friedsam Carousel are next on the list. The Carousel has 57 hand-carved horses and two chariots. Your tour will include an admission to Top of the Rock, a brilliant viewpoint from which you can see the park and a large portion of Manhattan. The building has three indoor and outdoor observation decks, each of which offer excellent panoramic views. Your guide will tell you about the history and architecture of the Rockefeller Center as you make your way up to the highest point of Top of the Rock.

While the morning tour will start with a visit to Top of the Rock before moving on to Central Park, the afternoon tour begins at Central Park and then proceeds to Top of the Rock.
