This majestic Gothic cathedral is where many New Yorkers go for Christmas midnight mass. Learn about the history of the building and how the holiday is celebrated at this very famous Catholic church.

Stop At: Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, 45 Rockefeller Plz Rockfeller Center, New York City, NY 10111-0100

At the heart of the city’s holiday celebration is this giant tree, which is usually a Norwegian fir. The size varies from year to year, but it will be no less stunning. See the tree from a slightly less crowded sight and learn about how the tradition began.

Stop At: Saks Fifth Avenue, New York City, NY

We will check out the iconic Christmas window display at this legendary department store and tell stories about previous holiday windows. If there’s time, you can sneak into their holiday section and pick up some stocking stuffers.

From outside the theater, we’ll fill you in on how to get tickets to the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular and explain how this show became a major part of how the holidays are celebrated in NYC.

Stop At: Fifth Avenue, New York City, NY

We’ll stroll down the glamorous shopping capital of the city checking out all the windows and chatting about different holiday cultures in the city.

Stop At: Bryant Park, between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Ave, New York City, NY 10017

Inside the only park in Midtown sits a winter wonderland where ice skating is free and many local vendors have set up shop in the park’s European-style Holiday Market. We’ll give you some recommendations on where you can pick up a last-minute gift or two. You’ll also have the opportunity to warm up with a hot chocolate or mulled apple cider (not included).

Stop At: Union Square, 14th-17th Street (Broadway and Park), New York City, NY 10001

After a short subway ride, we’ll arrive at Union Square where another holiday market sits for ready for exploring. This is the market most local’s shop at and every year there are a number of activities and local food samples among the innovative artisans.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Pete's Candy Store, 709 Lorimer St., between Frost and Richardson Sts, New York City, NY

On most days, we’ll end at this old-school tavern and celebrity restaurant where the Christmas decorations are something to see. The bar tops itself year after year. Since the tour ends here, we recommend tasting one of their famous housemade egg nogs spiked with your choice of spirit.
