About this activity

On this tour, make your way across 125th street exploring some of the many famous sites like the Apollo Theater, Theresa Hotel, the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Statue and the Studio Museum of Harlem. Explore this area which is one of the earliest landmarked districts in the five boroughs.

Mount Morris Park Historic District showcases a remarkable blend of late 19th and early 20th century residential and church architecture associated with the Gilded Age. With your guide, learn the history and legend of these landmarks. Notable past and present residents of the area are Broadway composers Richard Rogers, Oscar Hammerstein II and Lorenz Hart, poet Maya Angelo, chef Marcus Samuelsson, photographer James Van Der Zee and politician Richard Croker, Sr., to name a few.

Once the walking tour comes to a close, you will be treated to a delicious lunch at a local Harlem restaurant.
