Headquarters of the American Ministry of Magic!
Pass By: New York City Hall, Broadway and Murray St City Hall Park, New York City, NY 10007
Senator Henry Shaw is killed by the mysterious magical force known as an Obscurus
Pass By: Tenement Museum, 103 Orchard St Lower East Side, New York City, NY 10002-3102
When we are first introduced to the character of Jacob, he a poor, yet talented baker struggling to get the funding to open his own bakery. After a chance encounter with Newt, we see Jacob return to his home. It is rather small and cramped as a result of his financial situation - he works in a canning factory. He lives in a Tenement Building - which were typically large homes converted into multiple occupancy apartments - hence the small size.
The Tenement Museum was opened in 1988 and gives us the clearest insight into what life was like for those living in these conditions.
Pass By: Macy's, 151 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001, USA
One of Newt’s escaped creatures - we hear that there has been chaos in the area believed to have been caused by a Demiguse named Dougal
Pass By: Diamond District, Ave of the Americas & W 47th St, New York City, NY 10036
The missing creatures from Newt’s case send the group on a tour of the city. One of the locations they visit is the popular Diamond District - in search of the Niffler. A Niffler is a small, magical creature which is very attracted to shiny things - making the diamond district the perfect location of their favourite place in the world! They are usually used in the wizarding world for hunting treasure. In Fantastic Beats, the Niffler is found inside the shop window of a jewellery store - not unlike the ones we see around us.
Pass By: Times Square, Broadway, New York City, NY 10036
Times Sq. is closely tied with the theatre district - Broadway. In the first fantastic beasts film, when Newt is reading a newspaper, we see an advertisement for a production of, ‘Big Foots Last Stand’, which is being performed at ‘Wizarding Broadway’.
Pass By: Central Park Zoo, 830 5th Ave, New York City, NY 10065-7001
Once inside the park, walk towards the zoo via Grapstow Bridge - this is the same route that Newt and Jacob take when searching for the Erumpent - a giant magical creature. Much like the Niffler chose to head to the diamond district because they loved shiny things, the Erumpent chose to go to Central park as they love wide open spaces, trees and nature.
