About this activity
The Cultural Walking Tour starts at the Earl Grey's Monument in the centre of Newcastle. Accompanied with your guide, you walk along Blackett Street and onto New Bridge Street West where you discuss the Charles Avison Building and The Laing Art Gallery.
You then proceed down John Dobson Street, after which you turn west onto Market Street and head down Deen Street for a short distance to the Theater Royal before proceeding onto High Bridge Street.
After leaving High Bridge Street, you will head south down the Bigg Market to St Nicholas Square and the Cathedral itself. You will then proceed to the Castle Keep and the High Level Bridge which was built by Robert Stephenson where you will be shown some of the famous riverside sights of the Tyne.
From the bridge you will walk up Westgate Road to Neville Street and the Central Station. From there you will go up Pink Lane before re-joining Westgate Road for a short time before walking around the Town walls. You will next walk to Gallowgate and down Blackett Street back to the Monument where the tour finishes.
