About this activity
In the Niagara Region, there over 100 Wineries and Vineyards. You probably know all the big names of Niagara wine country like Peller, Inniskillen and Jackson-Triggs and while these institutions are really impressive and always serve up a nice drop, there are so many lesser known wineries to explore in the Niagara region. Each year we see new entries to the Niagara wine scene. The classic cool-climate varieties such as Riesling, Chardonnay, Gamay Noir, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc flourish here, but the region also now boasts over 40 other thriving varietals across 13,600 acres. The Niagara Peninsula continues to shape a rapidly expanding premium wine industry in Canada as the home to approximately 55% of Ontario's VQA wineries. So why not take a weekend to venture off the beaten path and visit some of these great small wineries… your next favorite bottle may be waiting just around the corner!

We believe, that, most of the experience here is in the adventure of creating your own personal “Wine Trail”. Not all tastes are the same, varying from what we like to drink, to what we want to learn, to what we want to see and oh yeah, it helps if the whole darn thing is fun. See only what you wish. Go only where you wish. Your day is all about you.
• Pick up at any location in Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada.
• Drive leisurely along the beautiful Niagara Parkway (Winston Churchill called it the "nicest Sunday drive in the World", to the quaint old Town of Niagara-On-The Lake, often called the loveliest town in Ontario. (on the way, quick stops at the Floral Clock, Queenston Heights Park, the Gorge Lookout and Queens Royal Park for photos if you wish). The Old Town is made for walking and you will be given the opportunity to wander and enjoy it. Both sides of the street are lined with shoppes, boutiques and attractions.
• You will then visit, 5-7 wineries/vineyards of your choice, based on your custom built itinerary. You can mix wineries, breweries, small batch distilleries and/or cider makers into your package along with a trip to Chocolate FX should you so wish it.

This tour utilizes an upscale private vehicle exclusive to your group. It will take about 5-6 hours and will make for an eventful and unforgettable day. Your driver guide will memorialize your day with tons of photos.

Tastings are extra. They range between $5.00 and $7.00 for 3 samples at most properties, they are usually big enough for 2 people, (1 oz

each). Most venues will wave the fee if you buy wine. Wheelz will comp 2-3 places for you.

Wineries start serving at 11:00 AM.

Lunch, should you wish it, is extra.

We will create the perfect itinerary for you.

My friends and I booked a private winery tour through Viator with a company called Wheelz, and Bernie was our guide. We had the best time and Bernie was awesome! He gave us a bit of history of the area and made a few scenic stops for us. Then we went to 6 wineries, and it was all on our pace - we could stay later at one if we really liked it. It was nice to not be rushed! I highly recommend Bernie and this tour! And all of the wineries are beautiful with very good wine and food!

What a great experience! We booked the private wine tour for four and enjoyed every minute of it. Our driver/tour guide, Darrel, was pleasant and informed. I would highly recommend mid-October as the time to go. No crowds, beautiful weather, perfect day! Thank you!

This trip was excellent! It was a totally personalized touring experience. In addition to visiting several wineries, we stopped at a local distillery that makes vodka and gin, as well as at a winery that specializes in ice wines they make ice wine slushies!. Tammy, our driver, was incredibly sweet and intuitive. She made suggestions for each stop based on what we told her we were most enjoying, and provided us with recommendations and ideas for both locations to visit and lunch. She also pointed out local attractions we hadn't known about. Everything was timed perfectly. I would highly recommend this tour.

I booked this experience a few days in advance of my trip to Niagara on the Lake. Tammy, our guide, called me the day before to inquire about the type of wine we enjoyed and if there were any specific locations we wanted to visit. The day of our tour, Tammy showed up early as she said she would, and was ready to go as soon as we walked out of our hotel. She was extremely friendly and was very considerate about our interests and what we wanted to do throughout the day. She had some wineries identified already as to where to stop, but was flexible to make some changes throughout, particularly since we had received some free wine tastings from our hotel. We were able to visit 7 or 8 different wineries and Tammy made a great recommendation for a lunch location Garrison House which was along the way. She took pictures at each of the locations and emailed them to us at the end of the tour. Honestly, it was one of the best experiences I have had in all the years visiting Niagara Falls. I would absolutely recommend taking a tour as I said, Tammy was fantastic! Next time we look forward to planning one that will focus on some of the breweries! Thanks again for a fantastic trip!!!
