Stop At: Diamond Head State Monument, 18th Ave. Waikiki, Honolulu, Oahu, HI 96815

Climb Hawaii’s most famous volcano on this 3-hour Diamond Head tour. A local guide will lead you through Diamond Head State Park and up to the summit, providing commentary about the crater’s history and geology. Prepare for spectacular views at the top, with a panorama of Waikiki and the turquoise waters stretched out below. At the end of your tour, you’ll be given an ‘I Climbed Diamond Head’ certificate from your guide.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Oahu Nature Tours, Honolulu, Oahu, HI 96826

Who was Diamond Head Charlie? Why did Kamehameha’s warriors attack Oahu? Where were the ancient heiaus, human sacrificial altars and burial caves? How did the crater receive its famous name? Enjoy an educational and fun guided hike to the 763-foot summit of the most famous crater on Earth. Incredible 360-degree views of Waikiki and the turquoise blue Pacific Ocean await you.

This exciting tour of the world famous Diamond Head Crater begins with a short introductory talk by a trained nature guide. You will learn about the fascinating volcanic creation, Hawaiian history, European discovery, early cattle ranching, and modern day military use of the “Gibraltar of the Pacific” while being escorted on a 45-minute walk that ascends to the 763′ summit. Along the way our groups stop at several points to rest and photograph the crater. Walking up stairways, going into a dark 200 foot tunnel and climbing a spiral staircase imparts a sense of adventure. From the summit, you’ll be thrilled with the 360-degree panoramic views of Waikiki Beach, the emerald green mountains and the sparkling aquamarine water of the Pacific Ocean below.

The excursion is approximately 3 hours and is a truly memorable experience. You will also learn important facts about Hawaii’s native bird and plant species and will be presented with a Certificate of Achievement that states that you successfully made it to the famous summit of Diamond Head Crater.

Ken our guide is hilarious! He made the trip fun The hike is challenging because of the combination of the stair climbs and heat. Bring hats and lots of water! So worth the challenge. The view of Hawaii from the crater is unbelievable.

Great hike but because of the heat the day we went, a little taxing, with gorgeous views from the top! Our guide/driver Kenny was excellent! He stopped for breaks and pointed out things for us to see and took photos with our camera so we all could be in them.

One of the main highlights of my trip! Greg was the guide for my tour and he was amazing. His fun and energetic personality made the tour more entertaining and he knew lots about the Isand/culture and was eager to share. Too bad he’s retiring soon.

Greg was the best guide. Funny and so knowledgeable. The hike was challenging, especially due to the uneven walking and maneuvering climbing with people who were coming down. Spectacular views and a feeling of accomplishment. Highly recommend.

Of the many adventures I've had on Oahu, this was one of the best: for the money it was a terrific value, and the hike itself is beautiful, rewarding, and not too difficult for most. Our leader Ken was hilarious but professional, and did a great job of taking us around. I would definitely do this one again next time.

The tour was exactly as promised. We met our great guide, Ken at the pre arranged spot and left for the Diamond Head. Go early in the morning when there is still shadow. Ken was really great

I had a wonderful experience on this tour. My aunt and I wanted to climb Diamond Head and I thought it would be fun to book a tour where we can hear about Nature and some background in Hawaiian history. Monique did not disappoint. She was very knowledgeable and set a pace for us going up that accommodated everyone in our party. I highly recommend this tour!

Excellent tour! Our tour guide, Tori, was extremely friendly and was an excellent tour guide! This tour was great because it picked us up/dropped us off from/at our hotel, took us to the crater, and then our guide only guided us up part of the way to a couple check points, leaving us free to climb up to the top and travel back down at our at our own pace. Overall, a great tour!
