Heraclea Lyncestis is ancient Macedonian city located 2 km from Bitola. Founded in the middle of IV-th century B.C. by Philip the Macedon, Heraclea existed for over a millennium as an important strategic point. Admission fee 2 euro

Visit of Bitola museum (permanent museum exhibition and the memorial room of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk)

Bitola Museum is located in the building called “Old army Barack”, which is a registered monument of culture of first category.

Within the museum building are located the Permanent exhibition of Bitola area, a memorial room of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and administrative offices.

Shirok Sokak – Sightseeing tour.

According to many, the main street in Bitola – Shirok Sokak is the most famous pedestrian street in Macedonia. This is the place in Bitola where you go to see someone or to be seen. The utilitarian buildings located on this street were built towards the end of the XIX c and the beginning of the XX c., and are decorated with the stylish elements characteristic of all “Neo” styles.

Stop At: St. Demetrius of Solun, 11th of October 1, Bitola 7000, North Macedonia

The church St. Dimitrij in Bitola was built in 1830, replacing the former old burnt chapel from 1726. Built with special permission of the Turkish authorities, the church supposed to be modest and nondescript building, lower than the surrounding mosques. Therefore, it was dug into the ground and is was built in just four months with donations from Bitola Christians.

Stop At: The Bitola Clock Tower, Bitola Republic of North Macedonia

The Clock Tower with imposing height of 32 meters, is the most recognizable landmark of Bitola. According to some historical records, a clock tower in Bitola is mentioned as early as 1664, but we can not reliably determine whether it is the same Clock Tower that exists today. According to some researchers, today’s Clock Tower was built at the same time as the nearby church of St. Demetrius, in 1830.

Near the Clock Tower are located:

Yeni Mosque - built by Kadi Mahmud Effendi in 1558-59, and in Bitola is known as Yeni (Turkish for – New) Mosque.

Isak Mosque - the largest and main mosque in Bitola. Built in 1506, the whole mosque complex was ideally situated between the government buildings, covered bazaar Bezisten and the Big Bridge to the other side of the river connecting it with the main street Sirok Sokak.

Bezisten (Covered Bazaar) in Bitola - Built in the XV century, this covered bazaar is a donation of Begler-Bey of Rumelia, the Grand Vizier and the famous donor Kodzha Daut Pasha Uzuncarsili.
