About this activity
Take a dip in the oldest onsen in Japan and discover the area's unique golden and silver springs

At the base of a scenic valley, Arima Onsen, Japan’s most famous hot spring town, lies deep in the north of the Rokko Mountain range behind Kobe city. It is the oldest onsen (hot spring) town in Japan, founded 1300 years ago. Since the days of old, it has been well known as a timeless spa resort where Emperors, court nobles, samurai, and other great minds visited. Furthermore, the town’s classic Japanese architecture and its numerous historical temples, shrines, and houses have fortunately been well preserved and make a great place to stroll through some of Japan’s oldest streets and to take a dip it some ancient hot springs at the fantastic Taikou-no-yu spa. With access from Kansai International Airport and Kyoto within two hours, Arima Onsen makes for a great day trip with convenient access to the nearby cities.
