Autumn Leaves in Aichi Prefecture: Korankei & Obara Shikizakura From Osaka

1 day
About this activity
Join up with the tour at 07:35 at one of three meeting points: JR Osaka, Namba OCAT or Tennoji (depending on departure date) as the tour heads to Aichi prefecture for a day of autumn leaves sightseeing.

Spend the first half of the tour visiting Obara, an area of Toyota City to see the combination of autumn leaves and shikizakura, or winter cherry blossoms. Shikizakura is a unique species of cherry blossoms that not only bloom in the spring, but also in the autumn/winter period between October and December, peaking from mid November to early December. Stroll around the district and enjoy the autumn leaves and the 10,000 or so cherry trees dotted around. The contrast between the bright reds, golds and greens of the autumn foliage and the pink petals of the shikizakura is truly special and cannot be seen anywhere else.

The second half of the tour visits Korankei, a valley that is said to be the best viewing spot in the whole Chubu region. You will immedaitely see why as the contrast of the autumn leaves, Mt. Iimori and the Tomoe River with several bridges spanning across it is wonderful. Around 4,000 trees and 11 different types of maple trees line along the river on both sides displaing their unique shaped leaves and colors where you can spend hours studying the intricate details. There are plenty of spots from which to take fantastic photos but the scenery from the Taigetsukyo Bridge is particularly recommended. You will have two hours to explore this beauty spot.

After a day of admiring stunning scenery, board the bus for the final time as it heads back to Osaka. Depending on traffic, the return time could be anytime between 18:30~20:30.
