General Admission to Kuchu Teien Observatory (Umeda Sky Building)

When it opened in 1993, the Umeda Sky Building and the lookout at top, “Kuchu no Teien” (Garden in the Sky), became an immediate hit. This circular observatory straddles two buildings, making it appear as though it is floating. Your journey to the deck is exciting enough on its own, with a dramatic escalator ride through the skies, high above the plaza below. Once up top, you’ll enjoy 360 degree views from the indoor observatory, but don’t stop there: A quick walk or elevator up a bit higher brings you to the roof deck, where the same views can be had in an even more stimulating environment.
