Duration: 3 hours
Stop At: 天見温泉 南天苑, 158 Amami, Kawachinagano, Osaka 586-0062, Japan
After the hike let me show you a part of the famous 'Koya Kaido' the pilgrimage road that goes from Kyoto to the sacred Buddhist monasteries atop of Mt. Koya. A road used as far back as the Heian Period (794-1192) by the Imperial Family and later by samurai and commoners alike. Here we will see the Edo / Meiji Period Saijo Sake Brewery, which is still in business today, and have a chance to taste and buy some of their famous sake. Then we will take a short drive to the famous Nantenen Inn and Onsen (spa). The main building has been registered as a National Cultural asset. Here we will have a gourmet five course traditional Japanese 'kaiseki' course lunch in a private traditional Japanese style room. The lunch is prepared with the finest seasonal ingredients. After lunch feel free take a dip in the hot spring 'onsen' bath and enjoy strolling around the premises.
