About this activity
We will meet you in the heart of Namba (detailed meeting instruction upon booking) and begin by heading on foot to a local 'izakaya' to get to know each other and sample the raucous atmosphere of downtown Osaka by night! At our first location, we will have our first (but not last) 'Kampai' of the evening and try a range of Japanese foods including fresh sushi, grilled yakitori and the local speciality, takoyaki!
From here, your guide will steer you to a local backstreet drinking establishment for a post dinner drink where you can expect to meet some of the locals, learn a little survival drinking Japanese and discover what makes this city so famous as the nightlife centre of West Japan!
Next, we head north past the iconic 'Glico running man' for photos before more refreshments and to see where the night takes us... often to singing our hearts out at a Karaoke bar!

I thought this was a food tour but it turned out to be more like a bar tour where he took you around to bars and you had to buy drinks at each of them. The only food provided/included in the tour was at the first stop. For the price of the tour, I think it was overpriced. It was fun but make sure you read the fine print (this was my mistake).
This tour was so much more than I even imagined. Our guide, Rodney, arranged to have another guide on our tour so that our group of 12 could still visit all the backstreet bars. Both guides were informative, knowledgeable, and accommodating because our ages ranged from 28-80 and everyone enjoyed the entire evening. We had a blast at the end of the evening at the karaoke place and to top off the tour, Rodney emailed us many pictures that he took with his camera. Those pictures really made my photo book of the trip very special. A big thank you to Viator and Rodney. My niece is visiting Osaka soon and she also booked the same tour because I raved about it so much.
Hands down the best tour I have ever taken. Rodney and Woody were the hosts for our rather large group of twelve and they were entertaining, personable, and very knowledgeable. The backstreet bars of Osaka are both numerous and very unique and our guides had a passion for where they took us. A great experience and one I will do again if fortunate enough to visit Osaka again. Kevin
Spectacular - I've traveled all over the world and have had many private, semi private and group tours and this small group 6 was amazing. This was everything you could have ever wanted from a food/street tour. The guide was hysterical, witty and informative. This was a perfect tour for Osaka and introducing you to this particular area and giving us vital info on Japan. If you want to really see up and close the culture, and gritty streets of Osaka, this is your tour.
