About this activity
All transfers meet at the Adrift base the morning of the tour where our guides will check everyone in, go over the days trip conditions and asses and provide the required equipment, and additional clothing and boots if needed.
Adrift have a shop which has all equipment, boots and clothing for hire to supplement that which you don’t have and the team at Adrift deem to be necessary to ensure that you are safe and comfortable with the weather and environment for the day. There is a $40 free allowance for clothing and boots. Boots are $15, all clothing is $10 per item.
Once we meet you, you are under our guidance so you can then relax and enjoy the journey with Adrift.
Where possible we will start on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing track and head up to Soda Springs before returning to the start. At Soda Spirngs we give you the option to upgrade to the full day walk and join in with the full day guided party to complete the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. There is an additional $50pp fee for this upgrade.
Additionally If there is anyone in the group who is unable to walk for the 4 hours on the Tongariro Crossing Track then we as a group will chose the option of driving to view points which require less physicality. We have a menu of smaller walks we can enjoy to ensure you get to see and enjoy all you can in the 4 hours. We will talk and show you all things relevant to Tongariro and New Zealand including recent and past eruptions geology flora and fauna discovery and settlement of NZ myths and legends and last but not least Lord of the Rings filming sites included and not included in the trilogy.

- A minimum of 2 people is required for this tour to operate. We take all individual and group bookings. If you are travelling alone please book as we generally always meet minimum numbers, especially on good weather days.
- Water, outdoor shoes with grip, long walking pants, 2 x warm tops and a raincoat.
- Adrift Tongariro has available for hire equipment, footwear and clothing to supplement that which you don’t have and need including boots, socks, thermal longs, fleece longs, waterproof pants, thermal tops, fleece tops, waterproof tops, warm gloves, warm hats, sun hats, sunglasses, backpacks, walking poles and sleeping bags and liners.
