KM0 Experience: Fishermen, Farmers and lagoon cruising

Meet your guide in Piazzetta Vigo a Chioggia, next to the ferry embarkation to and from Venice.
Greet your guide and move to board the comfortable 1-hour boat ride taking you through the south part of the Venetian lagoon, an area called Barena (salt marsh), of vital importance for the life of the flora and fauna, regularly submerged by the tides. If you are lucky you can be greeted by a storm of flamingos.
Next, you’ll arrive at the organic farm to discover some local stories and family recipes, with a tasting of seasonal produce, including the almost disappeared “Miele di Barena”, salt marsh honey. This is something that is produced just in small quantity, and for many years it disappeared, but thanks to our friends at the farm this tradition can be kept alive.
Before getting back to Chioggia with the boat you’ll have another great encounter with local food and traditions, as there will be a seafood cooking demonstration from our fisherman. On the boat ride back you’ll be able to learn more aspects of the jobs and the lives of local fishermen directly from them.
Once you are back to Chioggia a great seafood lunch is waiting for you, prepared by the fisherman in front of you, and guess where you’ll have it? Yes, onboard a boat!
