About this activity
Learn more about the Korean War and how it has physically divided the country at the DMZ and Northern Limit Line, the de-facto border between the two Koreas

Learn more about the Korean War and the scars it has left on this divided peninsula by visiting the DMZ and Northern Limit Line, the most militarized strip of land in the world! Your English speaking guide will pick you up from your Seoul accommodation in the morning to take you to the DMZ. Make sure to bring your passport because there will be a checkpoint controlling access to the DMZ. After registering and passing the checkpoint, explore Imjingak Village and Park, the closest location Korean civilians can go to the border to mourn their separation with family members across the border, and Freedom Bridge, where POWs were traded after the armistice. Afterwards, descend into the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel to see the grand attempts by North Korea to prepare for a possible invasion of the south by tunneling through the DMZ defenses. Emerge from the tunnels and climb up to the observation points on Mt. Dora, where you will have a bird’s eye view of the DMZ and the fake propaganda “villages” set up by North Korea just beyond the DMZ. After having lunch, drive past the Iron Fence Zone of the DMZ to see the Northern Limit Line, the disputed maritime boundary between the two Koreas. Stop at the Peace Observatory to catch a glimpse of the North Korean village just across the border before heading back to Seoul.
