Guided Walk of the Napier Art Deco Quarter

All walks start at the Art Deco Centre, 7 Tennyson Street, Napier.

The 10am walk is 1.5 hours long, starting off with 'The Day that changed the Bay', a complimentary 20 minute movie which gives you an outstanding background to Napier and the earthquake. Following this movie you will then be taken for an hours walk with a local guide. Your guide will tell you stories about the earthquake that destroyed the city, the people that were affected and the remarkable recovery and rebuild that was completed within two years. You can expect your tour to finish at 11:30am.

The 2pm walk starts off with a 25 minute introduction into the history of Art Deco, where it started and how it was introduced to Napier. You will then be taken on an hour and half walk with a local guide. Your guide will tell you stories about the earthquake that destroyed the city, the people that were affected and the remarkable recovery and rebuild that was completed within two years. You will then come back to the Art Deco Centre at 4pm to watch a complimentary movie, 'The day that changed the Bay'. You can expect your tour to finish at 4:30pm.

In Summer (October-March) we have a fascinating evening walk that starts at 4.30pm with a screening of 'The Day that changed the Bay' then followed by a 1.5 hour walk. You can expect this to finish at 6.30pm.
