About this activity
The Napier Hopper
departs every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour from the Napier information Centre. There are two Double Decker buses in a
one hour tour loop, half an hour apart, which means you are never more than 30 minutes away from the next bus when you choose to hop off to enjoy a location. Please see our schedules provided on the bus.
In order the stops are National Aquarium, Filter Room (Food and Drink tasting venue of the Hawkes Bay Brewery & Cidery), the Church Road Winery, Ahuriri Waterfront restaurants and shops, National Tobacco Company and Urban Winery, Art Deco City Buildings, Art Deco Trust Centre (where the Napier earthquake movie "The Day That Changed the Bay" is played), then back to Napier Information Centre.
Enjoy a free drink (Tea, coffee, juice or water) at the National Aquarium along with viewing live aquatic life, Penguins, Tuataras (New Zealand lizard from the dinosaur age, and
even Kiwis (NZ national bird) . Taste the exceptional range of beers and ciders at the Filter Room. Take in the rustic setting of the Church Road Winery (a limited free wine tasting is available here). Soak up the lay back feel of the Ahuriri fishing village, waterfront , restaurants and shops. For iconic New Zealand fish & chips try the "Thirsty Whale". Take photos of the amazing feature Art Deco Building, The National Tobacco Company. Sample the extraordinary wines of the up and coming Hawkes Bay Vintners. Immediately across the road from the National Tobacco Company is a very well stocked small supermarket to top up on any needed supplies. View Napier's Architecture and exceptional Art Deco Buildings up close from the advantage of a Double Decker bus. Stop at the Art Deco Trust Centre itself and be delighted by their shop treasures and the the earthquake movie, to which you have a free pass. Then finish the day back at Napier's Information Centre, where the cruise ship bus shuttles will ferry you back to your ship when you require. At all these stops along the way are cafes, restaurants presenting a great range and variety of food and meals. You should not go hungry, but you may well thirst for more of Napier's charismatic life style.
