ITINERARY

Day 1 | Batu Karu Temple to Canggu | 55km

An early transfer will bring us to Mount Batu Karu (2576m) which is the second highest mountain in Bali. We will visit the beautiful Batu Karu Temple at the foot of the volcano wearing traditional Balinese clothing (needed to enter the temple) which we will provide. This area of Bali is not frequently visited by tourist. We will start riding from the temple to the Unesco listed rice paddy fields of Jatiluwih where we will have our first break. From here we will ride all the way back to coast through the most amazing rice paddy fields and local villages. Lunch is the delicious 'Babi Gulling' (sucking pig), the favorite dish of the Balinese. After the ride we can visit the famous Tanah Lot Temple. 

Day 02 | Ride around the Crater of Mount Batur| 28km

We transfer with our support vehicle to the central volcanoes of the island. Today's ride goes around the outer rim of the volcano with amazing views of the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. You may expect some of Bali's best single track riding! Later we descend into the caldera and ride through the lava stream where the latest eruption happened, an amazing experience. After lunch we visit the local hot springs of Toya Devasa where we spend a few hours. In the late afternoon we transfer back to the rim where our hotel is located. The views from our hotel overlooking Mount Batur and the lake are amazing.

Day 03 | Hike to the summit of Mount Batur | Ride from Mount Batur all the way down to Ubud | 35km

Our trekking guide will come and pick you up at your accommodation around 3am for the hike to the summit of Mount Batur. It takes about 2 hours to reach the summit where we will provide a light breakfast with coffee or tea. You will be back at your hotel around 9am where we check out and get ready for the cycling part. Around 10am we start riding. We will cycle mostly downhill on a wide mixture of terrain all the way down to Ubud. The first bit of the ride goes through fruit farms and local villages. The second part goes through the classic rice paddy fields. 

Day 04 | Ride from Mount Abang to the Coast | 38km

In the morning we will head out and visit 2 cultural highlights just outside Ubud. First stop will be the amazing rice field terraces of Tegalalang. From here we transfer with our support vehicle to Tirta Empul. From here we will start riding, bit more technical today, but nothing serious and lots of fun. Today we ride through bamboo forest, dry creek beds, jungle forest and rice paddies - everything you can imagine! The ride finishes near the town of Tangkup in the South-East of Bali. From here we can transfer you back to your accommodation in the South or we can head back to Ubud (accommodation on Day 4 is not included).
