About this activity

Your driver or skipper will pick you up at your hotel prior to your selected time and you'll head to the pier located at Artisan Perlier. After meeting your guide and boarding your boat, you'll sail out on the waters off Moorea on an underwater wildlife expedition to immerse you in the rich marine life of the Moorea reef and lagoon ecosystems.
During your tour, you'll experience the crystalline waters of the sand bottom lagoon including observation of pink whipray stingrays and blacktip reef sharks. Drift through a channel towards the outer reef to observe leopard rays and grey sharks beneath you in the pass. Observe cetaceans including spinner dolphins, rough toothed dolphins, and humpback whales (if conditions permit). You'll be able to get into the water to swim or snorkel (snorkel gear included) with creatures of the underwater world to observe more closely.
From mid-July to mid-November, humpback whales are present in our warm waters; they migrate from Antarctic waters to calve and reproduce. French Polynesia is one of the few places where it is possible to swim with them and observe them directly in their realm. The calves are particularly curious and are masters at eliciting memorable emotions from our guests. Primary focus of this wildlife expedition activity is to observe humpback whales.
During the tour, the best spots for navigation and wildlife observation will be chosen by the biologist and captain, depending on weather. Most of the time the navigation will be on the north and the west coast of Moorea. During this excursion, you'll enjoy some fresh fruits, water and juice aboard the boat.
Tour will end at the pier around 11:30am or 6pm, depending on the time you selected. After disembarking at the pier, you will be return to your hotel by boat or vehicle, depending on the location of your hotel.

Please note: In-water observation with humpback whales are not guaranteed. Local operator's priority lies both to guest safety and to respect of all wildlife encountered during tours. We will only enter the water with humpback whales after the biologist onboard has observed their surface activity and deemed it safe for both the guests and the whales. Allowing the whales to continue their natural behavior, mating rituals, and migrational movements is vital for a healthy marine environment.

My wife and I had an excellent time on this tour! There were only 4 of us, plus the two guides, so it was very private. We swam with a ton of sting rays, as well as many black tip sharks and some grey sharks too, both in the shallows just off the coast and in the open water. We spotted a small pod of dolphins that we also tried to jump in with, but they weren't very social and were super fast. We got to see them for a quick minute, but then they were gone. The water and weather was perfect, so visibility was incredible. No whales, as we just missed them this time of year unfortunately, but we did drive around looking for them for a bit to be sure. Our tour guides were very kind and genuinely love what they get to do. They were a blast to spend the morning with. We'd definitely recommend this tour!

The tour guides were knowledgeble and friendly. This was a great tour. No whales but all other sea life was experienced on this tour.

We took seven excursions during our trip to French Polynesia. This was the best. These people are knowledgeable about sharks, whales and other sea creatures. They went out of their way to make sure we saw and/or swam with different kinds of whales sharks and dolphins. It was the end of the season but the day before they had seen a humpback. They wanted us to have the same opportunity to swim with a humpback. They went way beyond where they normally go and extended the tour trying to find a whale. They were unsuccessful, but not for lack of trying. They respect the environment and fished out some floating trash, mostly plastic bottles from the ocean.

Had a really great time - great communication prior to the activity and picked us up from the ferry even though it was running late! Saw spinner dolphins and a few whales, even getting the amazing chance to swim with a young humpback! Snorkeled with sharks and rays too. Great guide, knows his stuff!
