Cinque Terre Wine Tour in Riomaggiore and Hiking Through the Vineyards

About this activity
Meet your guide in Riomaggiore’s magnificent town center in the morning where a private transfer will take you to nearby Montenero — a delightful hilltop village with panoramic vistas over Italy’s UNESCO-listed Cinque Terre region.

Wander along a pretty village trail to a local vineyard and admire spectacular views over the Italian Riviera from your vantage point high on the hillside. Follow your guide on a tour of the grape-laden vines and gain insight into the traditional wine-growing methods in use. The priority here is producing world-class wines without using chemical products and the results speak for themselves.

At the conclusion of your vineyard tour, take a 45-minute stroll back down the hill to Riomaggiore and discover corners of the Italian countryside inaccessible by bus. Head to a local wine cellar, where your guide will detail his winemaking processes and explain why the Cinque Terre region is so well-known for its wine.

Sample two glasses of local wine during your tasting session — one white wine and one traditional sweet wine — and gain insight into the delicate fruit flavors at play in your glass. The pride of the Cinque Terre region, these organic wines are bursting with history and character, offering a range of delectable aromas at every sip. Your wine tasting is accompanied by typical Ligurian focaccia bread.

After three hours discovering the Cinque Terre wine region with your guide, head back to your start point to conclude your tour.

The wine tour was great! The directions to get to the vineyard from Riomaggiore, however note to get there early as the bus was very crowded and lots of people trying to get on a tiny bus! We were able to harvest some grapes and learn about the drying process, but please note that there are a lot of stairs to climb up and down in direct sunlight so can get tiring and hot, but worth it! Note that if you are afraid of heights, you are walking on stairs on the side of a cliff sometimes without a railing. The climbing was only for about an hour and then you get to sit in the shade, relax and enjoy some wonderful wine! The wine is very unique and we had the best focaccia bread to go with it! Note that you will have to find your way back to the bus without the guide, but it is a much easier walk down! Overall, would highly recommend this for a morning in Cinque Terre!!!! Great experience.

Our guide Angela was terrific. He toured us on his vineyard, explained more than any wine tour in the USA has ever done. He does all the work himself and runs a basically organic operation he is attempting to be officially certified organic, but it takes 3 years His wines are also terrific. This is the tour to take, for sure!

Andrea was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions. Led us through a beautiful walk into the terraced vineyards and back down into the village, where we got to sample some wine in his cellar. Enjoyed the tour and loved the wine.

What an amazing tour. Andrea was an amazing host, showing us around his wonderful vineyard, explaining the whole process he must go through to make his one of a kind wine. Highly recommend this tour to anyone in the Cinque Terre area.

This tour was great! Andrea was not only a great tour guide but an awesome wine maker as well. It was neat to see what all he has to go through to produce the wine.
