There are also many other hidden treasures to be found in the Louvre. Your guide will show you crowns studded with precious jewels, ancient Egyptian antiquities, sublime Greek statues and much more.
The Louvre was once a palace, home to the French royal family, and you will visit magnificent rooms whose sumptuous decorations bear witness to this; rooms built for Kings. Make the most of this extraordinary museum, join the tour and let your guide make your visit one of the highlights of your trip to Paris.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Les Caves du Louvre - Make Your Own Wine Workshop, Paris, Ile-de-France
After lunch (at your own expense) it’s a short walk to your next visit - an incredible vaulted wine cellar that once housed King Louis XV’s wine collection. Today these cellars have been restored and transformed into an incredible space where you can discover the tradition and craft of winemaking in France. Your expert guide will lead you through the rooms dedicated to learning about the cultivation of the grapes, the winemaking process and the smells, tastes and colors you will recognize as you taste wines. Your visit includes a tasting of 3 wines that have been selected for you by the sommeliers.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Montmartre, Paris, Ile-de-France
Your guide will lead you on to your next stop - a tiny and beautiful working vineyard in the heart of Montmartre. You will travel here by metro, as typical Parisians would, as you head for the lively and historical artist’s quarter of Montmartre.
The presence of vines in Montmartre goes back to Roman times, making this the oldest vineyard in Paris. In the 18th century Montmartre was outside of the city of Paris, and so not subject to its taxes, making the wine and rents cheap, and so attracting the artists, dance halls and cabarets that the area became so famous for. Your guide will lead you on a walking tour around this captivating area, regaling you with stories of the lives of the artists and famous residents who once called Montmartre home.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Le Clos Montmartre, Paris, Ile-de-France
This tour also gives you VIP entry to the Clos Montmartre vineyard, closed to the general public and only opened for a special few. Take a tour of this charming vineyard, and end your tour with a tasting of their hard to come by wine. Only 1750 bottles are produced each year, the wine is made in the local town hall - the only town hall in Paris to have a license to make alcohol! All proceeds go to support local Montmartre charities.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Place du Tertre, Paris, Ile-de-France
At the end of your tour you are free to spend your evening in Montmartre, perhaps on the artists square at Place du Tertre, or in one of the typical bars or restaurants in the area. Your guide will be happy to make recommendations to ensure you spend a perfect Parisian evening.
