About this activity
Meet by historic Notre Dame Cathedral for check-in your guide and an opportunity to meet your group. The journey begins with an overview of the history of Paris; from its humble birth to current day metropolis with the Cathedral as a stunning backdrop. Next, head into the true heart of Paris, Île-de-la-Cité or City Island where we will have a chance to discuss some of the most relevant episodes, characters, events and structures that have shaped the history of the area.

Next, we head onto the historic Left Bank of the Seine, crossing and discussing the iconic Pont-Neuf bridge before heading for a lovely promenade along the celebrated emerald green river with its quaint houseboats as we make our way towards the world renowned Louvre Museum.

The relaxed river-walk serves as great contrast and preparation for one of the most iconic stops of the day. The Louvre, where we will have a chance to walk you through its vast glorious, inglorious, dark and comical history. Enjoy postcard worth views of the area including the emblematic glass pyramid.

Continue the world heritage listed Tuileries garden straight to a quick bathroom break, and if a little craving creeps up, a quick chance to purchase a crepe for the way!

After our break we venture on to the emblematic Place de la Concorde, to discuss the French Revolution as well as an eclectic mix of iconic buildings, structures and historic passages most worthy of retelling. From the guillotine, through WWII, to Egyptian Kings and iconic films.

"The most beautiful avenue in the world" soon follows, the Champs Elysées. Songs, films, parades, postcards and poems have forever tried to capture the essence of the true backbone of Paris. A lovely tree-lined stroll which provides a chance to enjoy stunning views of Napoleon's Arc de Triomphe and a great opportunity to discuss the many ways the Champs Elysées have made themselves a key player in the history of our city. Shopping, Nazi occupation, sporting events, the President of France, parades and celebrations all come together to make for a captivating chat.

We then get a chance to enjoy and discuss iconic buildings like the Petit Palais and Grand Palais, characters eternally tied to the district like Lady Diana and Charles de Gaulle, as we head towards the most stunning bridge in Paris, Pont Alexander III featuring breathtaking views not only of the Eiffel Tower but our next stop, the towering golden dome of Invalides.

With Invalides as a backdrop, it is time for us to walk you through the stunning life of the most famous French man in history, Napoleon Bonaparte. From his humble beginnings through his meteoric rise into power through to his final days. Keep your tissues handy for this one.

Lastly, nothing says Paris like the Eiffel Tower! Joins us on Champ de Mars for a final farewell at the foot of "the Iron Lady" herself!

Just returned from a weekend in Paris and would rate this walking tour as one of our highlights. Our guide PAUL was amazing! So welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Paris and it's many important buildings and museums. We recommend you book this walking tour and if you are lucky enough to have PAUL as your guide I'm sure you will enjoy it too. The meeting point was easy to find on the bridge to the right of the main entrance of Notre Dame and PAUL our guide was there on the bridge in an orange fluorescent vest, very easy to spot.
