French Table Setting and Manners Workshop in Paris
2 h
Class
About this activity
Your Parisian manners experience takes place in the Madeleine district, at the beautiful showroom of Gien, a French tableware brand. Enjoy a welcome drink upon arrival, and then participate in two to three activities about tableware and table manners.
Learn the basics of à la française rules regarding different aspects of table manners, such as setting and service, particular objects, and their uses. You'll also learn a bit of history through anecdotes and stories about how table manners have evolved over the centuries, from the Middle Ages to present. Receive tips on how to behave or not behave at a French restaurant, so that when you're dining out in Paris, you can feel like a local.
After this first part of the workshop, you have the opportunity to set your own table using Gien tableware items, as well as other silverware, glass, or crystal pieces. Choose among four different Gien series, according to the season (for example, at the holidays, you'll make a special Christmas table setting). Set two different tables with other participants and enjoy time to take cute photos of your work, and then sit down to a light French brunch including black or green tea, juice, mini croissants, mini cakes, and/or biscuits.
At the end of class, receive a small present from the Gien showroom, as well as a coupon offering another present with any purchase of more than 50 euros at a Gien boutique.
