Experience the beauty of the Champagne region with this day trip from Paris to Epernay, Moët & Chandon’s or Nicolas Feuillatte cellars, Hautvilliers. Depending on the day, your visit may be a standard group tour (50 people) or on Tuesdays a small group tour (7 people).
You'll leave Paris by private coach and meet your expert guide whose sole mission will be to impart their undying love and extensive knowledge of bubbly!
Your first stop is Épernay, a tiny hamlet boasting the Avenue de Champagne, reputed to be the most expensive street in the world for all the priceless bottles in its miles of underground chalk cellars. Depending on how busy the producers are on the day, you’ll either descend beneath the streets to Moët & Chandon’s extensive network of ancient tunnels or visit the dynamic cooperative of Nicolas Feuillatte. Whichever place you visit, you'll enjoy your first tasting of the day.
You'll have lunch in Épernay. Strolling along its boulevards or admiring its stunning mansions, you will be totally immersed in the region’s essence. Your guide will offer recommendations to enjoy the best local cuisine.
Back on the coach, you'll drive along the Route de Champagne to Hautvillers, a lovely village home to a Benedictine abbey whose cellar master was a monk called Dom Pérignon! Your guide will lead you through the village, regaling you with its history and how its most famous resident came to discover the secret recipe for Champagne.
After exploring two iconic Champagne villages, you’ll discover a family-run boutique estate, where a local expert will walk you through every step of the champagne-making process. Roam the vineyard learning how the grapes are grown and nurtured and see the stunning private chateau of Veuve Clicquot before visiting the pressoir. Visit the candle-lit cellars and learn how to best mature and store Champagne.
The day ends with an exclusive tasting of 3 of their Champagnes on a beautiful terrace overlooking the vineyards.
After the tasting, you’ll drive back to Paris.
