About this activity
Once you meet your guide at the designated meeting point, you can get ready for exploring one of the world’s greatest art collections. You can marvel at relics from Ancient Egypt to the art of the Italian Renaissance. The entire collection would take months to see in full, but you will follow a carefully planned route to discover the highlights.
You will be taken to see the enigmatic “Mona Lisa,” but also see some of the less famous gems, such as Anthony Canova’s emotional “Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss.” You will hear the true story depicted in Gericault’s “Raft of Medusa,” and go to Napoleon’s former apartments to admire the most beautiful décor of the palace, as well as a collection of crown jewels.
The masterpieces continue with the “Venus de Milo,” a sculpture that inspired so many artists. Finally head to the basement of the Louvre Palace to see the foundations of the castle that once stood in its place.

Our tour guide, Aurelia, and the tour itself, was exactly what we were looking for. Aurelia took us through the Louvre efficiently to see the high points quickly and gave us just enough history to keep us interested without being boring. However, the company did NOT confirm the trip in the days leading up to it, which was not the case with every other tour company we had booked for our trip for other attractions. The only confirmation I received was the day of the booking on Viator months prior. Furthermore, there was a 10K race in Paris the day of our tour and it was nearly impossible to get to the meeting place the company provided. There was no contact number for the guide. I called the company number on the booking, was on hold for 10 minutes, and then it disconnected. When we finally met up with the tour guide and started our way into the Louvre, the tickets the tour guide had for us were time-stamped for 11:30 AM and our tour was scheduled for 10 AM. So we couldn't enter the museum until at least 11 AM to see the exhibits. The tour was still concluded at noon so we really didn't get what we paid for. The company ultimately acknowledged their error and gave us a partial refund, but I would consider the multiple issues we encountered if you are going to book this tour, even though the guide did a nice job overall.
Our tourguide Estelle was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable about the artwork, and conveyed her excitement about the art to us in an enthusiastic and fun manner. Only drawback was the level of background noise in the Louvre, which made it hard to hear sometimes. Overall, though, this was a great tour and Estelle was especially accommodating with our mother in a wheelchair - got us through a couple secret passageways, which was really cool and memorable.
Wish that the tour is just in English and not in two languages i.e., Italian and English. The tour company should indicate that the tour is in two languages so that we are aware of it and would have opt out of it. In addition the tour company is very disorganized as they booked a group for at 10am and another for at 10:30am and we had to wait around for the other group to arrive.
Out guide was very informative - - she spoke English very well - - but to fast - - I was hard to understand what she was saying sometimes. But she was a great guide - knew exactly how to get the the things we wanted to see - - it was a great day !
It's really worth skipping the line. The tour guide was informative and easily understood. Since it is so crowded it might have helped to have head phones. I always felt like I was trying to read the guides lips and invading personal space to hear. Very hard to do the Louvre in one day.
