Private excursion to D-Day beaches in Normandy from Paris
This private tour in group of 7 people leaves from Paris and brings you to Normandy. You'll visit the D-Day beaches, the Utah Beach Museum, the Omaha Beach Landings, Pointe du Hoc...
The tour begins at central location in Paris where you'll meet your guide. Along the way to Normandy, he will share exciting stories about the region and give some essential insights into World War II, describing the thorough planning that led up to invasion of Normandy.
The first stop will be the remarkable Utah Beach Museum, housed in an old German bunker directly on the beach. This museum has an exceptional exhibition on Operation Overlord, including personal stories and the only original B-26 airplane in France. During the museum tour, you will not only appreciate the historical aspect of all the artifacts, but also will see the personal and human side of the war.
You will see a 17th century barn and sample regional apple cider and Calvados, a pear and apple-based brandy. Then, we will go to a quiet port for a two-course meal in a local restaurant.
Pointe du Hoc creates dual feelings - you will see incredible views and bomb craters at the same time, which will make you appreciate the brave D-Day soldiers even more.
The final and probably most emotional stop will be the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, which is the final resting place for nearly 10,000 American soldiers, airmen and navy personnel. You will have a free time for a peaceful walk around the Cemetery surroundings to look for a familiar name or to see an overview of the Omaha Beach Landings in Visitor Center.
