About this activity

The Chateau de Versailles is a palace and a French historical monument located south-west of Paris. This palace and its gardens were designed to glorify the French monarchy, and was the residence of kings of France, Louis 14th, Louis 15th and Louis 16th.

Pick up at your hotel, 45 minutes drive with a bilingual licensed guide on board who will give you general information about French Monarchy and French History. Be sure to spend a memorable time. With skip the lines tickets (included in the price), your guide will lead you to the apartments of the King, the private apartments of "Mesdames", Louis 15th's daughters, (the Queen's apartments including Marie-Antoinette's bedroom are closed until 2018) and the famous hall of mirrors overlooking the Grand Canal and fountains.

Then, your private guide will lead you to the gardens to see the Orangerie and the Grand Canal (included in the price).

From April to October, attend the fountains show in the gardens. (Only on week-ends and on Tuesdays from June).

Back to the vehicle to drive you back to your hotel.

Important : in high season, the palace is very crowded, so please book your tour ASAP, to book for you the best skip the line tickets to see the King's apartments and the fountains show.

We had a great time with Marie. She was very responsive and gave an excellent tour of the palace and gardens. They picked us up right at our airbnb and we did not have to stand in any lines!

For the price of this tour it was extremely disappointing. Spent 20 minutes while guide bought garden tickets and another hour waiting to get into the group entrance to the palace because too many people and we missed our assigned time. Driver was fine and on time for pick up and drop off. Guide was knowledgeable but we mainly asked questions instead of her giving us information throughout the tour. She spoke very little on the drive to Versailles and basically not at all on the drive back. This was about an hour and a half combined driving time when she should have been sharing lots of information about Paris, history etc. We have done other private tours like this and that is what we expected. Also in the Palace we had to stand at the back of the rooms to listen to her and this meant we didn't get to see the rooms up close (why not headsets where she could talk while we looked at the rooms). She was a big disappointment and not at all what we expected for this kind of money and a private tour with 4 people. Also way too much time spent standing in the sun waiting for tickets and then at the Palace entrance. This whole time she didn't talk at all and again this was a good time for her to share her knowledge with us but nothing was shared.
