Located on the Ile de la Cité, Notre-Dame Cathedral was built over nearly two centuries, between 1163 and the mid-14th century.
A true cultural and religious edifice, the cathedral has always been at the heart of France’s history. Napoleon I was crowned here in 1804 and it is also the main setting of one of Victor Hugo’s most beautiful literary works, the Hunchback of Notre-Dame.
