Our guide Susan was very informative and knowledgeable on the history and the art we saw. She made our experience amazing. We learned a lot more than a group tour so the extra costs was well worth it.

The tour vendor Mon Beau Paris connected us with Susan, a native Parisian, as our guide. Her English was perfect and to top it off she studied history and art while in college so she was able to provide informative historical context for the works displayed. She took us to see all the major highlights of the museum on three main floors during the two hours. We couldn't have seen as much in the short time without her guidance. We gained a much better appreciation for what we saw thanks to her knowledge and explanations. It was a very initimate tour with just my wife and me. She took us through a special entrance so there was no waiting to get in on the day we were there. At the conclusion of our tour she showed us where to find a brasserie to get lunch, after which we used our ticket passes to get back into the museum and spent another hour exploring the Orsay before walking over to the Musee L'Orangerie separate ticket to enjoy the grand sized Monet garden murals and other works on display there. This private tour was a worthwhile purchase to make the best use our our short time in Paris.

We were lucky enough to have Suzanne as our guide for a morning enjoying the beautiful artwork of the Musee D'Orsay. With her background in history, Suzanne was able to provide a detailed historical context in which the artists worked and developed their styles. This context helped us to better understand the interplay between politics, economics, the growth of Paris at the time, and the impact these artists and their work had. After noticing that several of the works she wanted to show us had been removed for a special exhibit on nature and philosophy in another part of the Musee D'Orsay, Suzanne took it on herself to ensure that the tickets we had would also let us into the special exhibit-which was stunning! I have always loved the impressionist and post-impressionist collections, and saw them for the first time many years ago when they were still in the Louvre before being moved to the Musee D'Orsay. My husband had never seen any of them, and was delighted to be introduced to them for the first time. Suzanne introduced me to several works I had not seen before, including a delightfully whimsical polar bear statue that was clearly beloved by the school children wandering around the museum. This is an excellent introduction to the Musee D'Orsay for those who have not had the opportunity to see it before, and a lovely way to jog the memory for those of us who have gone previously. It is too short to see everything, but once inside you can take your time as we did after the tour ends to visit so many magnificent and gorgeous pieces in a spacious and light-filled setting.
