The Marais Architecture & Culture Tour
Starting in St. Paul Square, this tour will take you into the heart of the LGBT+ neighborhood to learn how this subculture has moved in and made a part of the Marais their own. Then you'll step back in time as we lead into the Jewish Quarter and learn about their deportation during World War II and subsequent return to Paris. As you stop at some Jewish bakeries, we’ll also learn how they have enriched the cultural life of the city. Finally, you'll go back even further, to a time in which Paris was the strongest and most populous city in Europe and the Marais was its most aristocratic neighborhood. You'll walk through hidden courtyards and past centuries-old urban mansions built for nobility from all over the continent, then stop at the Place des Vosges, arguably one of the prettiest squares in Paris, and certainly one of the most expensive to live on, to learn about the royal history steeped in the soil.
