About this activity
After a short train ride from Paris, your Versailles bike tour starts as you collect the bikes with your guide next to the train station.
Following your guide, ride through the town of Versailles, stopping at the historic food market to buy picnic supplies for lunch (own expense). Then pedal into the royal grounds of the Palace of Versailles, hearing about its history and entertaining anecdotes from your guide. Cruise through the French gardens—some of the most stunning in the world—and make your way to a picnic spot along the Grand Canal, with a view of the palace in the background.
After lunch, visit the rarely seen Queen's hamlet, Marie Antoinette's self-designed village in the forests of Versailles. Your guide then leads you back into town, where you have free time to explore the interior of the palace on your own before returning to Paris on the train.

Our tour guide, Josh and his shadow, Charlie, were wonderful. They were both from England and were engaging an knowledgeable. They took care to keep us hydrated as it was a record setting day for heat in Paris and the surrounding areas. They shared that, by law, restaurants have to fill your water bottle on request and showed us where the refill stations were throughout our trip. They gave us the scoop on where to buy our picnic supplies. The metro trip over was quick - the information interesting and the scenery lovely. We never felt rushed. Ten out of ten recommend.
Loved that we could see more on a bike. Rachel was great and I loved the people who joined me that day. Didn’t know I had to shop for a snack (wine, cheese, bread and fruit) once we arrived at Versailles via metro, as shopping in an open market not knowing the language was a challenge for me, but it worked out and the picnic on the chateau grounds was a treat!
What a spectacular day. Seeing the grounds by bike was definitely the way to go as they are so big! Our picnic on the canal with local produce was fantastic. We were extra lucky as it was a fountain day. I just loved it.
Mark was so knowledgeable and we breezed through Versailles. Guys honestly DO THE BIKING TOUR! If you see how huge this place is you'll never be able to cover it walking. We were so relieved we picked this option!! The lunch was simply amazing. What an experience!!
Going to do it again for sure!
