Walking tour of Paris secret covered passages
Experience the city like a local! Take a wonderful walk through the secret passages and shopping arcades of Paris!
Those covered passages are a set of arcades constructed between buildings to improve traffic flow and to also create shopping galleries. Mainly located on the Rive Droite and near the main boulevards, these structures were created for wealthy clients. The passages had their heyday in the first half of the 19th century as those in Paris numbered more than 130 at the time. They were abandoned following the construction of Hausmann's great works and the emergence of department stores.
This walking tour will bring you up to date about why these passages and other galleries were so appealing on a stroll around the 2nd and 10th district. Your guide will take you through around a dozen of them.
