About this activity
DAY 01: ARRIVE PARO

You will be engaged in sightseeing around Paro after lunch wherein you will get to visit Ta Dzong Museum housing many religious relics, works of art and handicrafts offering a great orientation into Bhutan’s historical, cultural, and religious past. Next, drive to, 7th Century Kyichu Lhakhang which is one of the 108 temples constructed by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. Kyichu is built in a manner similar to the Jokhang in Lhasa. Inside the temple, there is a great golden image of Buddha Shakyamuni.

DAY 02: PARO

Attend the Paro Tshechu (Festival)

 

DAY 03: PARO – THIMPHU

Drive to the capital Thimphu, which is 1.5 hours following the Pachu River. You can stop on the way to take in the magnificent Tamchhog Lhakhang, the hereditary place of worship for Bhutan’s iron bridge builder.

You will get to visit:

• Visit Tashi Chhoe Dzong-
• Visit National Institute of Traditional Medicine-
• Visit Bhutanese Craft Bazaar
• Visit Buddha Dordenma Statue
• Visit Bhutan Post Office

DAY 04: THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA TO PARO
• Travel to Punakha (3 hours drive)
• Visit Dochula Pass
• Visit Punakha Dzong-Punakha Dzong is the second largest and one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan. It was build by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel as prophesied by Guru Rinpochhe.This Dzong is built at the confluence of Po Chhu and Mo chhu.
• Visit Chimi Lhakhang- Is a popular Buddhist monastery built around 1499 by Ngawang Chogyal in honor of Lama Drukpa Kuenley who is also known as a “divine madman” after he subdued the demon of the Dochula with his “magic thunderbolt of wisdom”.
• Visit Wangdue Dzong- This beautiful Dzong was built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel around 1638 on a high ridge between two rivers i.e. Puna tsang Chhu and dang chhu.

Drive back to Paro

DAY 05: PARO

Hike to Taktsang Monastery. The walk of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours uphill will take you almost a kilometer above the Paro valley (we will arrange a horse for those who cannot hike up to the cafeteria.

In the afternoon, you will attend the Paro Tshechu (festival). 

 DAY 06: PARO-DEPARTURE FROM PARO AIRPORT

Our Tour guide will drop you at the Paro airport
