About this activity
DAY 01: ARRIVE PARO
• You will be engaged in sightseeing around Paro after lunch wherein you will get to visit Ta Dzong Museum housing many religious relics, works of art and handicrafts offering a great orientation into Bhutan’s historical, cultural, and religious past. Next, drive to, 7th Century Kyichu Lhakhang which is one of the 108 temples constructed by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. Kyichu is built in a manner similar to the Jokhang in Lhasa. Inside the temple, there is a great golden image of Buddha Shakyamuni.
Overnight stay at Paro.
DAY 02: PARO - Attend the Paro Tshechu (Festival)
• Paro Tshechu is one of the popular and most visited festival by the tourists. Tshechu means the 10th day of the month of the lunar calendar (Buddhist calendar). So you would be attending this most prevalent religious festival on second day.
Overnight stay at Paro.
DAY 03: PARO – THIMPHU
• Drive to Thimphu,the capital city of Bhutan for 1.5 hours . You can stop on the way to take a look at the magnificent Tamchhog Lhakhang, the hereditary place of worship for the Bhutan’s iron bridge builders. You will also visit the following sites as well.
• The National Memorial Chorten,
• Tashi Chhoe Dzong
• National Institute of Traditional Medicine
• Bhutanese Craft Bazaar
• Buddha Dordenma Statue
• Bhutan Post Office

DAY 04: THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA TO PARO
• Travel to Punakha from Thimphu (3 hours drive) and visit important Buddhists fortresses,temples and sites viz:
• Dochula Pass - You will get to see 108 sacred temples out there.
• Punakha Dzong- It is one of the most beautiful and second largest Dzongs in Bhutan.
• Chimi Lhakhang- It is a popular Buddhist monastery built in an honor of Lama Drukpa Kuenley who is also known as a “divine madman” after he subdued the demon of the Dochula with his “magic thunderbolt of wisdom”.
• Wangdue Dzong- This beautiful Dzong is built on a high ridge between two rivers i.e. Puna tsang Chhu and Dang chhu.
Drive back to Paro.
DAY 05: PARO -Hike to Taktsang Monastery.
• The walk of approximately 2 hours uphill will take you almost a kilometer above the Paro valley (we will arrange a horse for you if you cannot hike). The Taktsang Monastery is built on a sheer cliff which is 900 meters above the valley from where you will have a great sight of the valley floor beneath. The Monastery is an important pilgrim site for the Buddhists.

DAY 06: PARO
• After the breakfast, we will drop you to the Paro International Airport from where you will fly back home.
