About this activity
Day 1: Arrive Paro / Thimphu (L, D).
Receive you at Paro Int'l Airport, drive to Thimphu, check-in to hotel and have your first Bhutanese cuisine for lunch. Visit Postal Museum - a great place for stamp collectors, Textile Museum to understand Bhutan's rich textile traditions. After 5pm visit Tashicho Dzong which houses King's office and Throne room.
Day 2: Full Day in Thimphu (B, L, D).
Visit magnificent 169ft tall Buddha statue overlooking Thimphu valley. Visit the only animal enclosure in Bhutan, where the national animal of Bhutan, Takin can be seen. Drive to view point and start 2hrs easy hike that ends at monastic school Dechen Phodrang. Visit Folk Heritage Museum, settle for sumptuous Bhutanese lunch served in Traditional style. Visit Traditional Institute of Medicine where ancient healing techniques are still practiced. Visit Institute of Traditional Arts and Crafts, see youths learning arts. Leisure time to explore/shopping in the town.
Day 3: Thimphu / Punakha (B, L, D).
In the morning visit National Memorial Chorten built in 1974 in memory of Late 3rd King, drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass at 3,150m and enjoy the panoramic view of eastern Himalayan ranges on a clear weather. In Punakha, visit Chime Lhakhang which brings fertility to women who aren't able to conceive children. Visit the most beautiful Fortress in Bhutan, 17th century Punakha Dzong to see intricate wall paintings and fine wood works.
Day 4: Punakha / Paro (B, L, D).
In the morning, hike to Khamsum Yuley Namgyel Chorten built on a mountain ridge overlooking beautiful valley. It is 2.5hrs return trip through terraced rice fields and rural farmhouses. Drive back to Paro, visit an auspicious 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang said to have been built in 1 day.
Day 5: Paro / Chelela Pass / Paro (B, L, D).
Drive to highest motorable Pass in Bhutan, Chelela (3800m), walk among colorful prayer flags enjoying pristine environment and stunning view of mountains on a clear day. After lunch visit National Museum to understand rich cultural traditions of Bhutan. Visit 17th century Paro Dzong where you can see cheerful monks.
Day 6: Paro / Bumdrak Trek (B, L, D).
Drive to hilltop monastery and begin 4.5hrs trek along the ridge of the mountain covered in fir and pine trees. Picnic lunch will be served on the spot with stunning views around. The campsite is on a heavenlike mountain meadow.
Day 7: Bumdrak / Paro (B, L, D).
Early risers will be greeted with great view of sun rising behind the Himalayan mountains. If lucky, encounter endangered Himalayan Monal Pheasant around the camp. After breakfast, descend down to Paro valley via the famous 7th century Paro Taktsang. In the evening, visit farmhouse and relish home cooked exotic dinner.
Day 8: Departure from Paro (B).
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Paro Int'l Airport for your onward journey.

  • Best time for this tour is from Mar to Jun and Sep to Nov. While activities from Day 1-5 are easy, Day 6 demand basic level of fitness as it involves almost 4 hours of gradual uphill hiking and steep descent on the way back on Day 7. All of our past clients, many without any fitness training and some even in their late 60s have successfully completed this trekking.
  • January, February, June, July, August & December are considered as Low Season
  • March, April, May, September, October & November are considered as High Season
  • 25% discount for Youth(s) applies to students aged between 13-24 years old only upon submission of a valid student identification document.

  • There are only two airlines operating in and out of Bhutan and so securing air tickets can be difficult especially during the months of high season. We recommend you to book least a month in advance especially if you plan to visit during the high season. To ease your burden and take the stress out of trip planning we can take care of your air ticket bookings at no extra charge for the incoming and outgoing flights from Bhutan. You just have to take care of the connecting flights.
