Day 1: Arrive Paro International Airport & Excursion in Paro

Stop At: National Museum, Tag-Dzong Rinpung Dzong, Paro 12001 Bhutan
The National Museum of Bhutan is located in Paro just above the Rinpung Dzong (administrative headquarter of Paro district). It is housed in an ancient watch tower called Paro Ta Dzong (Ta Dzong means “watch tower fortress”) built in 1649. It displays hundreds of ancient Bhutanese artifacts and artworks including traditional costumes, armour, weaponry and handcrafted implements for daily life. The collection at the National Museum preserves a snap-shot of the rich cultural traditions of the country.

Stop At: Rinpung Dzong, Paro Bhutan
Paro Rinpung Dzong (Rinpung Dzong means “fortress of the heap of jewels”) was built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1646 and established as the administrative and monastic centre of the western region. Today, the Dzong serves as the office of the governor of Paro district and head of the district monk body in Paro. A great annual festival known as Paro Tsechu is held in Rinpung Dzong from the eleventh to the fifteenth day of the second month of the traditional Bhutanese lunar calendar (usually in March or April of the Gregorian calendar). On this occasion, holy images are taken in a procession followed by a series of traditional mask dances conveying religious stories which are performed by monks for five days.

After visiting the Dzong, take a short walk to the traditional wooden cantilever bridge called Nemeyzampa, where your driver will be waiting for you. The roofed wooden cantilever bridge is built in a traditional style and this type of bridges are called Bazam

Stop At: Buddha Dordenma, Kuensel Phodrang Viewing Point, Thimphu 11001 Bhutan
The magnificent 169 feet tall bronze statue of Lord Buddha is located on a hilltop, Kuensel Phodrang, overlooking the Thimphu valley. From here you can see a nice view of Thimphu city. It was built to celebrate the 60th birth anniversary of the Fourth King His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck and also for the purpose of bringing peace in the world . The giant Buddha statue houses more than 100,000 8-inch tall Buddha statues of same type. The construction began in 2006 and was completed in 2015 after almost 10 years. The total cost of the entire project is well over US$100 million.

Stop At: Gagyel Lhundrup Weaving Centre, Industrial Estate Changzantok, Thimphu 00975 Bhutan
A visit to this Weaving Center will give you insights into the weaving culture and tradition of the Kingdom of Bhutan. You will see women at work weaving simple plain textiles to one of the most intricate designs and patterns of traditional Bhutanese attires all handwoven.

Day 2: Sightseeingin Thimphu / Transfer back to Paro valley

Stop At: Memorial Chorten, Thimphu, Chhoten Lam, Thimphu, Bhutan
This is one of the important landmarks in Thimphu and obviously the most frequented religious site. You will see people from all walks of life circamumbulating and offering prayers.

Stop At: National Institute for Zorig Chusum, Thimphu Bhutan
The National Institute of Zorig Chusum (Zorig Chusum means ’13 Traditional Arts & Crafts’) was established to promote and preserve the thirteen traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan and to facilitate increased access in learning Zorig skills by Bhutanese youths. Many of these traditional arts and crafts are declining with the advent of modern technologies and therefore, the government is putting in lot of effort to train youths to keep the traditions alive. The thirteen arts and crafts are categorized as Shing Zo (woodwork), Dho Zo (stonework), Par Zo (carving), Lha Zo (painting), Jim Zo (sculpting), Lug Zo (casting), Shag Zo (wood turning), Gar Zo (blacksmith), Troe Zo (ornament making), Tsa Zo (bamboo work), De Zo (paper making), Tsem Zo (tailoring, embroidery and applique) and Thag Zo (weaving). These thirteen arts and crafts are an essential part of Bhutan’s cultural heritage that have been practiced from time immemorial.

Stop At: National Library and Archives of Bhutan, Pedzoe Lam, Thimphu Bhutan
After lunch visit National Library of Bhutan considered as national treasure of Bhutan and fundamental source of Bhutanese history, religion, medicine, arts and culture. Opens during working weekdays & on Saturdays 10am – noon.

Stop At: Changlimithang Stadium & Archery Ground, Chang Lam, Thimphu Bhutan
Pass by the Changlimithang Archery Ground and witness the game of archery is the match is ongoing. You will see archers dancing and singing each time they hit the target from a distance of 145 meters.

Stop At: Kyichu Lhakhang, Lamgong Gewog, Paro 12001 Bhutan
On arrival in Paro, visit one of the oldest temples in Bhutan - the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang which believed to have been built by the Tibetan Kind Songtsen Gampo in one day. Kychu Lhakhang is the national treasure of Bhutan.

Day 3: Hike to the famed Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) & later visit farmhouse for dinner comprised of home-cooked local cuisine

Stop At: Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest), Taktsang Trail, Paro 11001 Bhutan
Today, on the 3rd day of your trip, you will hike to the famous 17th century Paro Taktsang Monastery popular known as the “Tiger’s Nest”. Originally built in 1692, the iconic sacred site Taktsang is perched on the 800m rock cliff and it is the most visited place in Bhutan. The round trip hike takes about 4-5 Hours for most visitors.

After lunch at the Taktsang Cafeteria, descend back to the base and drive to Paro town and spend some leisure time.

Later in the afternoon, visit a beautiful traditional farmhouse for an authentic dinner comprised of homecooked local cuisine. You can also soad up in the therapeutic traditional hot stone bath for an additional fee of about US$15 per person.
